Fatal Crash – Golconda Road, Lebrina
At 4.30pm today, Saturday 24 March 2018, police were called to a report of a single vehicle crash on Golconda Road, Lebrina.
Upon arrival police located the 34 year old female driver within the vehicle. Attempts were made to revive the female, however she was pronounced dead at the scene by Ambulance Tasmania personnel.
A young female passenger escaped without injury, however she was taken by ambulance to Launceston General Hospital as a precaution.
It appears the crash was caused by vehicle failing to negotiate a left hand bend, causing it to strike a fence and roll down a slight embankment, landing on its roof.
Golconda Road was closed for several hours whilst Crash Investigation and Forensic Officers examined the scene.
Police cannot rule out inattention and excessive speed for the adverse weather conditions as contributing factors to the crash.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
Police would like to remind members of the public that inclement weather is likely to remain within the state for the next couple of days and road users should drive to the conditions and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
