Fatal Crash – Frankford Road, Glengarry
At 6.45am on Wednesday 14 January 2015 Exeter Police attended the scene of a two vehicle crash on Frankford Road, Glengarry.
A Mitsubishi utility was travelling east on Frankford Road when it veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a truck. The utility had travelled up a long incline and around a bend when the collision occurred. The truck was unladen, and the trailer was being carted on back of the tray.
The sole male occupant of the utility died instantly at the scene. The driver of the truck, did not sustain injuries, however, was taken to the Launceston General Hospital as a precaution.
Weather conditions at the time were reported as light drizzle and the roadway was wet. There had been heavy showers in the area overnight.
Crash Investigators, Forensics personnel and Transport Inspectors attended to examine the scene. Frankford Road was closed for six hours and traffic diverted around Glengarry Drive and Glengarry Road.
