At 12:45pm today, (Thursday 10 March) police were notified of a motor vehicle crash on Frankford Road, near Harford. On arrival  police located a grey Mazda sedan, which had left the road on a sweeping right bend and collided with a tree. The vehicle had been travelling east.

The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was found deceased in the driver's seat. He was a 57 year old Port Sorell man.

The Frankford Road was partially blocked for several hours while police completed initial investigations at the scene. At this stage it is not believed that alcohol or excessive speed played a part in the crash, which occurred in dry, sunny conditions.

The scene was attended by Ambulance and Fire personnel, along with police from Devonport, Latrobe, Port Sorell, Forensics and Accident Investigation. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
