Fatal Crash, Cuprona Road, Cuprona
At 6:53am today, police were notified of a crash on Cuprona Road, Cuprona. On arrival, police located a Suzuki four-wheel drive and a Honda 250cc motorcycle, which had collided head on, seriously injuring the motorcycle rider.
Ambulance personnel attended, however they were unable to revive the rider, and he died at the scene.
The rider was 18 year old Burnie man Adam Glenn KUYS. The driver of the car was a 34 year old man from Cuprona. He was uninjured in the crash.
Early indications suggest the south bound motorcycle crossed onto the incorrect side of the road, into the path of the oncoming car.
At the time of the crash, it was foggy and the road was wet.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The road was closed for around 5 hours while police examined the scene.
The scene was attended by Ambulance Tasmania, and police from Burnie Uniform, Forensic Services and Crash Investigation Services. A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
Police request anyone who saw a yellow Honda CBR250RR in the Burnie or Cuprona area between 6:30am and 6:50am on Wednesday the 17th of July contact them on 131 444.
