An 86-year-old man has died following a crash between a log truck and a sedan near Birralee in the State’s north yesterday.

The crash occurred at about 5.45pm when the driver of the sedan attempted a U-turn on Birralee Rd and collided with the fully laden truck which was coming the other way.

The driver of the sedan died at the scene from his injuries. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. The driver of the log truck was uninjured.

A police investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
