Fatal Crash Bass Highway Carrick

A 46 year old woman from ACT has died following a crash on the Bass Highway near Carrick earlier today.

At about 9.14am on Thursday 27 March 2014 a Holden Astra travelling east on the Bass Highway at Carrick (Oaks Road off-ramp) has hit the rear wheel of a semi-trailer travelling in the opposite direction.  The Holden Astra has ended up in the wrong carriageway and collided head-on with a Holden Commodore travelling in the opposite direction.

The 46 year old woman driver of the Holden Astra from the ACT has died at the scene.  The 55 year old man and driver of the Holden Commodore received serious injuries and was transported to the Launceston General Hospital.

The 57 year old semi-trailer driver was badly shaken but received no injuries.

Investigating officers will prepare a report for the coroner.
