About 3:15am, a grey Toyota Hilux was travelling south on Back River Road when the driver, and sole occupant, failed to negotiate the slight right-hand bend in the road.

As a result, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a power pole.

Nearby residents heard the crash and rendered assistance to the driver until emergency services arrived.

He died at the scene.

Early investigations suggest inattention and fatigue may have been contributing factors in the crash.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
