At approximately 1.00pm on 15 May 2011 a fatal accident occurred involving a 26 year old male competitor, 2.5 hours into a 3 hour enduro motorcycle race.

The race was being conducted under a permit by The Motor Cycle Enduro Riders Club on private land at Bothwell. St. Johns Ambulance staff responded to the accident and were later supported by Ambulance Tasmania.  The male rider died at the scene.

An inquest will be opened into the death and Tasmania Police are investigating the incident.
