Fatal Collision – Southern Outlet, Kingston (6 Jan)
An 87-year-old woman from Rosetta has died as a result of a two vehicle crash on the Southern Outlet on Monday the 6th of January 2014 at 12.00pm.
The collision occurred at the exit of a south-bound slip lane onto the Southern Outlet just prior to the Kingston bypass.
The deceased was the rear seat passenger in a white 1995 Toyota Corolla. The 69-year-old driver from Claremont and two other passengers, a 61-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man from New Mexico were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital as a precaution and released a short time later.
The 21-year-old male driver of a white 2007 Mitsubishi van was also taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital and released that evening.
The deceased was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital by ambulance and admitted to ICU in a critical condition with head and chest injuries. Unfortunately she passed away in Hospital last night (7/01/2014).
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle just prior to the collision.
