On Thursday 7^th June 2012, emergency personnel attended a single vehicle crash on the Esk Highway, 3 kilometres east of the Midland Highway.  At 7.50am a white Nissan utility has lost control and crashed into a tree on the northern side of the road.

The driver of this vehicle, a 70 year old male from Royal George, was initially treated at the Launceston General Hospital and then conveyed to the Austin Hospital in Victoria.  At 5.25 am on 16/6/12 the driver of the Nissan, passed away at the Austin Hospital. 

An investigation into the crash is being conducted and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
