Fairview Primary School Arson
At about 0450 hours on the 9th of November 2012 a shed at the eastern end of the property at the Fairview Primary school was deliberately set on fire and completely destroyed. The shed was valued at approximately $20,000 and the contents of the shed, which included chairs, desks and sporting equipment, was estimated at $10,000.
Fire scene examiners, police forensics and CIB attended and conducted an investigation in relation to the fire.
Two youths from the New Norfolk area have today been interviewed and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act for Arson. As a result of investigations an adult male, also of New Norfolk, was charged with the following offences:
Arson
Attempted Arson
7 counts of unlawfully set fire to vegetation
unlawful setting fire to property
The charges relate to offences committed between 1 September and 9 November 2012.
Investigations are continuing and it is expected that one other youth will be interviewed over coming days.
