Extradition from New South Wales

Detectives from Fraud & e-Crime Investigation Services and the Hobart Criminal Investigation Branch yesterday extradited a 41-year-old man from Terrigal on the New South Wales Central Coast.

It is alleged the man failed to appear in the Hobart Supreme Court on a serious assault charge on the 7th of March 2011, as well as failing to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on several family violence related offences on the 1st of April 2011.

He was arrested yesterday by NSW detectives on warrants issued by these courts and a further warrant for a fresh charge alleging an $11,700 cheque fraud committed in Tasmania prior to his departure from the state.

The man is due to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on the fraud and family violence matters this morning and in the Hobart Supreme Court in relation to the serious assault charge at a later time.
