Excessive Speed Offender 190kph

Glenorchy Police have arrested and charged a motorcyclist for travelling at more than double the speed limit across the Bowen Bridge.

The 20year old man from Warrane had an 18year old pillion passenger and was travelling at 190kph in an 80kph zone at 10.45am on Wednesday 14th May 2014.

The P2 licence holder was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving, as well as other serious traffic offences. His motor cycle was confiscated under the ‘Anti Hooning’ provisions.

Members of Tasmania Police from Southern District, were conducting a traffic operation when they spotted the rider.

The Southern region operation saw 106 people being issued with infringement notices for speeding, 27 for using a mobile phone while driving, 9 for driving unregistered cars, 6 for not wearing seatbelts and 4 for either driving whilst disqualified or unlicensed.
