Excessive Speed – Enough is Enough Road Safety Campaign

On Sunday morning 12/6/22 Smithton Police were conducting high visibility road patrols as part of the “Enough is Enough” Road Safety Campaign when they detected a vehicle travelling west at 136km/h in a 100 zone near Peggs Beach Camping ground.

The vehicle was observed to overtake another vehicle travelling at the speed limit and maintained this speed for a considerable distance prior to being intercepted. A 41 year man was issued an infringement with 5 demerit points and a $519 fine.  There were 3 passengers in the vehicle at the time.

“It is extremely disappointing to continually disobeying the speed limit, and putting themselves and other road users at risk”.

At the time of the offence the road was wet and there were poor weather conditions.
