Police have charged a 36-year-old West Launceston man with Evading Police (Aggravated Circumstances), Disqualified Driving, Reckless Driving, Speeding and Possession of a controlled drug, following a dangerous driving incident yesterday.

Around 12:20pm yesterday, police attempted to intercept a black Mazda 3 sedan, registration E71EE, after it was detected speeding on High Street, Campbell Town.

The Mazda 3 subsequently evaded police and travelled north on the Midlands Highway, travelling at an excessive speed and overtaking a number of vehicles.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the Mazda 3 driving on the Midland Highway, north of Campbelltown yesterday, or anyone who knows the current location of the vehicle.
