Essential supply convoys
Tasmania Police has scheduled escorted convoys of essential supplies to the Tasman Peninsula.
The convoys will take place at 9am and 6pm, when cooler conditions are favourable to safe passage on the Arthur Highway.
Agencies wishing to provide essential provisions for essential services only are asked to contact Tasmania Police on 6230 2563 with details of their request. Agencies must provide transport for the supplies, and make arrangements for collection of the provisions in Nubeena.
Access to the police escorted convoys must be made by agencies in advance for the purpose of providing essential provisions for support services, and police will prioritise requests. The escorts are not available for donations from individual members of the public, or to escort private vehicles to the Peninsula.
The convoys are subject to an assessment of the conditions.
At present there are no further ferries scheduled to transport people from Nubeena.
Where it is possible, and conditions are safe, police will escort private vehicles out of the area on the ‘return run’ of these convoys. The number of vehicles which can be escorted is limited for safety reasons.
The convoys are scheduled for 9am and 6pm daily. This is subject to road and weather conditions, and a risk assessment of the road. Information on how to access the convoys can be obtained from the Nubeena Civic Centre and listening to ABC Radio. Requests for escort will be prioritised.
