Emergency Response Training
Tasmania’s emergency services are undertaking further training to ensure preparedness for any large-scale emergency.
The State Government has provided funding for Emergency Management Australia (EMA) to conduct multi-agency training for incident managers and controllers.
The Australian Emergency Management Institute is a Centre of Excellence for knowledge and capability development in the national emergency management sector.
The desktop exercise course ‘Coordinate Resources for a Multi-Agency Incident’ has involved 23 responders from Tasmania Police, State Emergency Service, Tasmania Fire Service, Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
“This course is designed to prepare emergency services and government departments to come and work together in an integrated manner in response to a large scale emergency,” said Brett Aimers, from Emergency Management Australia.
“The course aims to assist agencies to plan for, respond to and recover from large scale emergencies that may occur in Tasmania in a coordinated and integrated manner.”
