Eddystone Point rescue

Mid-afternoon on 19 February 2017, three men who were fishing at Cod Bay in north east Tasmania experienced engine troubles in their boat.  As a result the vessel was beached and the men attempted to restart the boat and made several attempts to arrange retrieval.

After several hours the men contacted police and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to assist.  The group were retrieved about 9.30pm by the helicopter crew and taken to a nearby landing site where they were assessed by a paramedic.

None of the men had serious injuries and they did not require hospital treatment.

At the time of the incident the crew were carrying all required safety equipment which aided in the rescue.
