Drug investigations continuing
Royden Sydney Bevin SWAN, aged 39 years, and Emma Joan NASH, aged 30 years, both of Nugent, appeared in an out of sessions court in Hobart on the evening of Thursday 17 November 2011.
The pair have been charged with trafficking in methylamphetamine from September 2010 until November 2011. Swan has been remanded in custody to re-appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23 November 2011. Nash has been remanded in custody to re-appear on Friday 18 November at 2.15 pm.
The investigation into the couple forms part of a larger investigation into the distribution of methylamphetamine in Southern Tasmania conducted by Southern Drug Investigation Services for in excess of 12 months. Investigating officers have made a number of other seizures of methylamphetamine during the course of the investigation. The investigation into the alleged trafficking by the Nugent couple and persons associated with them is continuing.
Investigators have indicated that all available evidence is being reviewed and are confident that other persons known to have been involved will be charged with additional offences associated with the trafficking of the drug. Police have also seized or restrained hundreds of $1000’s worth of assets as part of Proceeds of Crimes proceedings.
