Western Drug Investigation Services have conducted a number of searches for the month of March, this included charging 25 people with cannabis related offences, including significant seizures of both cannabis plants and dried or drying cannabis.

In addition to the drugs a number of illegal firearms were also located.  A recent search in the Ulverstone area located two illegal firearms.  These were a .357 Magnum Smith and Wesson handgun and a .22 semi automatic assault rifle replica.

These firearms are additional to a number of exotic weapons seized in the last twelve months.

Members of the public are asked to report suspicious persons and vehicles in bush or remote locations.
