A 57 year old man from St Helens is believed to have drowned whilst surfing at Maurouard Beach, St Helens Point Road this afternoon.

At 2pm today, Police and emergency services were called to the beach following a report of injured surfer.

Following attendance by police and emergency services, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Next of kin have been notified.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
