Driving under the influence
A 49-year-old man from Tasmania’s northwest has been charged after being caught drink driving, five times over the legal limit.
Senior Sergeant Darren Woolley said police intercepted a vehicle in Wynyard yesterday at about 1.10pm after it swerved and hit a kerb.
“The driver was breath tested and returned a reading of 0.268.”
“As a result of this reading, he has been charged with drink driving offences.”
“He has also been disqualified from driving for 12 months.”
“Tasmania Police will continue to focus on the fatal five contributors to road deaths and serious injuries, which includes drink driving.”
Anyone who witnesses drink driving, or any other dangerous driving behaviour should contact police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
