Police are urging motorists to pay attention and be safe on the roads following a crash at Penna this morning. 

Around 11.55am police responded to a report of a crash involving a car and a truck at the intersection of Tasman Highway and Brinktop Road. 

Inspector Jim Semmens said “Although no injuries were sustained in this crash, had it not been for the quick thinking of the driver of the truck who swerved, the consequences could have been fatal.” 

“Dash cam vision from a truck directly behind the crash, very clearly shows that a serious crash was only narrowly avoided. 

“This should be viewed as a strong deterrent to other motorists – please head the warning, and pay attention on the roads.

“The braking distance of large vehicles, particularly heavy fully-laden trucks is significantly more than for smaller vehicles.  

“Pay attention on the roads, it’s not just your life on the line.” 

Police are investigating and it is anticipated charges will be laid against the driver of the vehicle.
