Drink Drivers Apprehended
Tasmania Police are concerned at the start of the Crossroads Campaign for Easter 2014.
Operation Crossroads commenced at 12:01hrs this morning and within the first 8 hours of the operation Southern District police apprehended 4 drink drivers, 3 or which were Provisional Licence holders.
Tasmania Police as part of Operation Crossroads are targeting drink driving offenders using a range of strategies, including covert operations.
One of the offenders apprehended was a provisional licence holder (therefore not allowed to have any alcohol whilst driving) was apprehended in Sandy Bay with a reading of .193, this was the second offence for this driver. At the time of apprehension he was travelling with a passenger in the vehicle.
“Tasmania Police remind all drivers of the need to take responsibility during this Easter period. We will continue to focus on drink driving, speed and other factors that heighten the risk of being involved in a serious or fatal crash,” said Sergeant Reardon.
