Drink driver detected travelling at 180 km/h
At 23:00 Hours on Friday 26th May 2017, Western District Road Safety Task Force officers detected a white Holden utility travelling at 180 km/h upon the Bass Highway at Sulphur Creek.
The driver, a 22 year old Burnie man, was also found to be driving after consuming alcohol, returning a reading a little over twice the legal limit for the holder of a full basic licence.
The driver was subsequently arrested, charged and bailed to appear in the Burnie CPS on a later date, whilst his motor vehicle was clamped for a period of 28 days.
Police would like to remind motorists that driver behaviour such as this, may result in a catastrophic outcome and that “speeding shatters lives”.
