Drink driver detected four times over the limit
A 36 year old Claremont woman has lost her licence for 12 months and been charged with drink driving after being detected driving with four times with legal limit over the weekend.
The driver, who was intercepted by Southern District Road and Public Order Services traffic operation in Claremont on Saturday morning, provided a reading of 0.217% – well over four times the limit.
The driver was charged with Exceed 0.05 and bailed to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on 29 October 2018. The driver was also issued with an immediate 12 months driving disqualification.
“Motorists who have consumed alcohol the night before are reminded to be careful when driving the next day. This is because they’re likely to not only exceed the alcohol limit of .05%, but put themselves and other road users at risk of serious injury or death,” Acting Inspector Ian Mathewson said.
“This is a timely reminder to all motorists to give themselves enough time when drinking the night before, for alcohol to leave their system.
“We conduct alcohol and drug tests at any time of the day or night. Morning alcohol and drug testing will be a continued focus, so think carefully before you drive after a big night out.”
