At 10.55pm on Wednesday the 15 August 2012 TASPOL and TFS were called to a unit on fire at Pioneer Parade, Ravenswood. TFS gained entry to the unit by forcing the front door. When extinguishing the fire they discovered two deceased persons on the downstairs floor of the unit.

A male identified as being Joshua Eric Newman (16/4/91) was located lying in the lounge room and had multiple stab wounds.

The female identified as being Angela Maree Hallam (9/9/80) of Pioneer Parade Ravenwsood was located nearby also with multiple stab wounds.

Launceston CIB is continuing the investigation. Northern Forensics are still in attendance with FSST.  The scene has been protected and restricted.

Next of kin have been notified.
