Police are investigating a double murder at Hamilton.

A 31-year-old woman and 34-year-old man were found dead at a property on Hamilton Plains Road at around 5am this morning.

The alleged offender, a 59-year-old man, was later located at Lachlan with a gunshot wound to the head. He is in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
