Doorstep Robbery in Howrah
Detectives from Bellerive CIB are investigating a robbery against a woman at her home in Howrah yesterday morning.
A 56-year-old woman went to leave her home, on Merindah Street, at about 11.20am and when she opened the door a young man unknown to her was standing at her doorway.
The man grabbed at her handbag and assaulted the woman by punching her to the face. The victim was not carrying any cash and the offender dumped the bag and left.
Detectives searched the immediate area up towards Glebe Hill but were unable to locate the offender.
The offender is described as approximately 18 years of age, wearing dark pants and a dark blue windcheater. He has dark brown hair with a thick long fringe covering part of his face.
Detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the assault. Did you see anyone or do you know anyone matching this description?
The offender is believed to have left the area on foot and may have been walking near the intersection of South Arm Highway and Oceana Drive and Merindah Street at approximately 11.20am yesterday.
