At approximately 2am 19/10/2012 a fire occurred in an alleyway between the Reject Shop and Advocate buildings in Stewart St Devonport.  The fire, which appears to have started in discarded rubbish, spread to the rear of the Reject Shop causing extensive structural damage to a storage area and stock contained within.  The total loss suffered is approximately $300,000.

Police and Tas Fire Service scene examiners are conducting an investigation into this matter to determine if the fire is a criminal act and to identify those responsible.
