Inspector Shane LeFevre said:
“Police were generally very pleased with the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere at the Cup.
“It is unfortunate that a handful of people were unable to control their behaviour and were arrested or directed to leave the venue.”
During one arrest a police officer sustained a suspected fractured ankle and is currently in a stable condition at the North-Western Regional Hospital. It is expected that he will be operated upon later today and will be unavailable for duty for some weeks.
“Following the Cup a large number of patrons attended licensed premises in the Devonport CBD,” Inspector LeFevre added.
“While most were generally well behaved, there were two arrests for public order offences in the early hours of today.”
