Devonport Cup behaviour
Devonport Police were generally pleased with crowd behaviour at this year’s Devonport Cup and later in the Devonport CBD.
Acting Inspector Anthea Maingay said that three people were arrested inside the venue for public order related offences.
“Considering there were more than 5500 people attending, crowd behaviour was excellent,” Acting Inspector Maingay said.
Several liquor infringement notices were also issued to people drinking outside the venue.
Western and Northern District Road Safety and Public Order sections conducted random breath testing sites around the venue. A total of 1714 drivers were tested for alcohol and two drivers were drug tested with no offences detected.
Eight drivers are to be proceeded against for summary traffic offences. One driver was arrested and charged after attempting to avoid a random breath testing site.
