Devonport Area Assaults
Western Crime & Drug Investigation are investigating four reports where women have been approached by a male person and on two occasions assaulted by him in the Devonport area in the past week.
“The male is described as being in his late 20s to early 30s. He has short brown hair, is skinny and Caucasian,” said Senior Constable Felicity Boyd.
Police believe the male is the driver of a late model blue Ford sedan.
“Recent media reports have suggested that these incidents are attempted abductions; however police are investigating these incidents as assaults.
“During these incidents the suspect has touched two of the victims however has not attempted to abduct them,” she said.
“We are investigating each of the matters and the possibility that they are linked,” Senior Constable Boyd said.
“The incidents occurred near the Devonport Bluff, MacFie Street and on Devonport Road at Quoiba at varying times.”
Senior Constable Boyd stated that these types of incidents are uncommon in the Devonport area and that police believe the male is new to the area.
She has asked members of the community, especially young women to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
