Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death At Kington (Update 2)

Just prior to midnight on Friday 17 January 2014 a 41 year man was shot and subsequently died at a private house in Pine Avenue in Kingston. The man was discovered in the backyard of the house.

Detectives and Forensic Personnel are still conducting investigations into the man’s death from the police command bus in Pine Avenue.

Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel said: ‘The major crime team will relocate to Kingston Police Station tomorrow to continue investigation activities. The crime team will be supported by specialist officers and key government partners’.

Detectives ask that residents in surrounding streets including Fern Street, Redwood Road, Oak Court, Waratah Street, Wattle Street, Birch Street, Cypress Street Hawthorn Road who may have seen or heard a person or people or a motor vehicle at the time of the shooting to telephone Crimestoppers or alternatively visit the police command bus.

Detectives have spoken to people of interest but at this time there are no firm suspects and nobody has been taken into custody for the shooting.

Detective Acting Inspector Joel said: ‘The local community is also a primary consideration in the investigation response and key government partners will be consulted in coming days to seek guidance in providing assistance, counselling and advice to locals if required’.

Detective Acting Inspector Joel said: ‘As always the local community can play a part in resolving serious crimes of violence. Detectives are available to speak to anyone who might have information. It is highly likely someone knows more about this shooting and that information can be given anonymously’. Detective Acting Inspector Joel reminded people that a reward exists for information given to police that leads to a conviction.
