Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death At Kington (Update 1)
Investigations by Detectives and support personnel have continued throughout the day into the death of a 41 year old man. The man was shot at a private house in Pine Avenue, Kingston.
Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel of Hobart CIB said: ‘Detectives are working through information from members of the public and again urge anyone with information to visit the police command bus in Pine Avenue, Kingston, or alternatively, telephone Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000’.
Detective Acting Inspector Joel said: ‘A number of witnesses have said they heard what sounded like a single gun-shot in the vicinity of the Pine Avenue address. Detectives want to hear from anyone who has not already contacted police who might have heard or saw something in the vicinity of Pine Avenue last night just before midnight’.
‘Detectives reiterate that the shooting is not thought to be a random attack and it is highly likely someone knows more about the shooting’.
‘Detectives have also conducted a line search in woodland behind the house in Pine Avenue and it is possible the person or people responsible may have fled through the woodland after shooting the man’.
‘It is possible the firearm or clothing may have been discarded in or near this area and residents are urged to keep a lookout for anything suspicious in their yards or surrounds’.
Investigations will continue in the days and weeks ahead.
