Detectives Investigating Suspicious Death At Kington
Just prior to midnight on Friday, 17 January 2014 a 41 year man was shot and subsequently died at a private house in Pine Avenue in Kingston.
The man was discovered in the backyard of the house.
Detectives and forensic personnel are in attendance at the house conducting investigations.
Detective Acting Inspector Craig Joel of Hobart CIB said: ‘The circumstances of the man’s death are both suspicious and violent and a major crime investigation team has been set up to manage the operation. Key government partners are assisting the police investigation’.
Detective Acting Inspector Joel said: ‘The man has been shot and the person or person’s responsible have not yet been identified. It is not clear at this very early stage of the investigation why the man was shot.
Detective Acting Inspector Joel said: ‘I want to reassure the local community here in Kingston that there is no immediate or ongoing threat to local residents’. ‘The police command bus has been set up in Pine Avenue and a large police presence will remain in the area’.
‘The shooting is not thought to be a random attack’.
Detective Acting Inspector Joel said: ‘Detectives are already following up on information from the public and they are appealing for anyone with information about the man’s death to telephone Crimestoppers or visit the police command bus in Pine Avenue, Kingston’.
