A 40-year-old Glenorchy man has been arrested following an incident at Hungry Jacks in Glenorchy early this morning.

It is alleged that around 6:10am the man entered the store and after being informed it was not open for business, he reached towards his pocket and demanded money.

Staff retreated into the kitchen of the store and contacted police as the offender fled the area empty handed.

He was located a short distance away and taken into police custody for formal interview later today.

The man did not have a weapon and no one was injured.
