Deliberately Lit Fire – Natone Hill
Just prior to 4:30pm on Wednesday, 15 February 2017, Emergency Services received in excess of 1,000 calls to 000 in relation to a vegetation fire on Natone Hill, Lindisfarne.
The Tasmania Fire Service firefighters controlled the fire within three hours, assisted by two helicopters and two fixed wing aircraft.
Thankfully no losses or injuries were reported, however around 25 hectares were burnt.
The fire is being treated as suspicious and Police would like to hear from anyone who may have information relating to the cause of the fire.
Furthermore, Police would like to speak with two male youths who were seen in the area of Derwent Avenue and the East Derwent Highway, described as 15-16 years of age one of whom was pushing a bicycle.
One youth is described as average height, fair skin, medium build, dark hair wearing light coloured clothing and an ear piercing. The second youth was taller and slimmer than the first with a tanned complexion and wearing dark coloured clothing.
