At approximately 11:30pm on Monday 24 September 2012, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service responded to a house fire at 171 Sugarloaf Road, Risdon Vale.

The house is a privately owned property that was occupied; however no one was present at the time of the fire.  No one was injured as a result of the fire.

TFS extinguishing the fire, however the residence was destroyed, with damage estimated at $400,000.

Fire scene investigators and Forensic services personnel conducted an examination of the fire scene and the fire was determined to be deliberately lit.
