Dangerous Driving – George Town Municipality

On 11 February 2014 about 10.30am Police attended the scene of a crash at the corner of Cimitere Street and Goulburn Street George Town. The crash was caused by a white Holden Commodore station wagon, registration number CS3986 failing to stop as required at an intersection displaying a stop sign. The Comodore Station wagon failed to stop at the scene of the crash and continued driving. The secondary vehicle, a white Holden sedan sustained minimal damage. No injuries were sustained.

Police received multiple calls from the public complaining about the dangerous driving behaviour and excessive speed of the white commodore station wagon driving around George Town.

At times the high risk driving was in the vicinity of schools and a play group which placed both members of the public and children at risk.

The vehicle was later located in Marguerite Street, George Town and has been impounded. Investigations are continuing with the offending driver remaining at large.

Police wish to assure the public that they are highly committed to detecting and preventing high risk driving behaviours and are appealing for members of the public who witnessed any of the driving conduct of the white Holden Commodore Station wagon to contact George Town Police Station on 6382 4040.
