Police are calling for witnesses to a dangerous driving incident on Wednesday, 31 August 2016.

At around 7:45am, a black Daewoo Lanos with false registration plates (DU6571) drove dangerously through heavy traffic on the Brooker Highway at Clearys Gates.

The Daewoo turned left onto Risdon Road, drove on the incorrect side of the road overtaking other traffic, around traffic islands and nearly caused several crashes.

Other motorists in the area were required to take evasive action to avoid the Daewoo.

Police later located and clamped the vehicle in Swanston Street, New Town.

Anyone who witnessed the Daewoo driving dangerously or before the incident is asked to call Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
