Damage to airport property
At approximately 9.15am on Thursday the 18th of November 2010 police attended the Launceston Airport in relation to damage that had been caused to airport property.
Upon police arrival police were informed that a 28 year old Launceston male had driven his vehicle into a section of the security fence near the long term parking area and had also driven into a storage shed of an on-site freight business.
The male abandoned his vehicle at the airport, entered the terminal where he was observed acting strangely by airport staff until police arrival.
Attending police escorted the man to the Launceston General Hospital for assessment.
There were some initial delays to arriving passengers to ensure their safety.
An assessment by police was made, there was no risk to aircraft or passengers.
