Cyclist/vehicle crash at Summerhill

At approximately 2.43pm on Thursday 5th May 2011, a serious crash occurred on Peel Street, Summerhill, involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle.

The crash occurred when an 18 year old Launceston man was riding his mountain bike across Peel Street near the Summerdale Primary School. 

The man was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time.

A collision occurred when the man entered the roadway from between two parked vehicles and was struck by a red Honda sedan which was travelling west on Peel Street. 

The cyclist was conveyed to the Launceston General Hospital, Accident Emergency Section where he is currently in a serious but stable condition.
