Croft Ave Murder
On 25 December 2012 about 10.20pm police and ambulance attended an address in Croft Avenue, Devonport after a report of a violent incident involving three men where a knife had been produced and used.
Upon arrival at the scene Tasmania Ambulance Service members treated two Devonport men aged 21 years and 30 years; the 30 year old man being pronounced deceased upon arrival at the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe. The 21 year old man was transported to the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie where he has been stabilised and is suffering from knife wounds and a punctured lung.
A short time later police arrested a 33 year old Devonport man in relation to the incident. He has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
The man will appear at a special sitting of the Devonport Magistrates Court at 1pm today. Detective Acting Inspector Stuart Wilkinson will answer questions in person for media at 12.30pm at Devonport Police Station.
The investigation continues and police wish to speak to anyone who has any information in relation to the matter.
