At 1:40PM emergency services were called to attend a motor vehicle crash on the Lyell Highway, Granton.

As a result of the incident a silver hatch has run off the road, causing the vehicle to catch fire and be destroyed.

The occupants of the vehicle were lucky to escape without serious injury.

Police are looking for the driver of an early 90s model Red Commodore travelling north at the time, who may be able to assist with investigations.
