Crash Kings Meadows

At about 11:26am today, Thursday 13th March 2014, a marked police vehicle was on mobile patrol on Riseley Street, Kings Meadows when another vehicle crashed into it at the intersection with Jillian Street.

Preliminary investigations have shown that the bronze Holden Commodore was travelling at high speed and failed to obey a give way sign when it crashed into the police vehicle.  The crash appeared to be unintentional.

The driver immediately fled the scene on foot.  A search of the area failed to locate him.  Two Constables in the police vehicle were treated at the Launceston General Hospital for minor cuts and bruises.  Their car was extensively damaged.

At about 2:25pm sightings of a suspicious man were reported in the area of Bond and Guy Streets.  Police contained the area and took a man into custody, he is suspected of being the driver in the crash.

Police rask that anyone who observed a bronze 1999 Commodore sedan being driven erratically in the Kings Meadows area this morning call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
