At approx 0700hrs on Tuesday 11 October the police rescue helicopter was tasked to Pelion Hut on the Overland track in response to an overnight EPIRB activation.  

A police and ambulance walking party had walked in overnight to assist the injured party.  Bad weather had prevented the helicopter flying in during the night.

A woman with a fractured left upper arm was flown to Devonport for treatment.
