As a result of confusion caused by inaccuracies reported by some media outlets, in relation to the suspended officer and the circumstances of the suspension, the following correction request was forwarded to The Mercury today.
 

"The Mercury article published on Friday, 4 February 2011, is incorrect in saying the Wynyard officer was suspended for ramming a teenager on a bicycle with a police car. There is no such allegation and the investigation did not find that there was any contact between the police vehicle and the teenager's bicycle.  This matter is yet to go before the courts it is inappropriate to comment further at this time”
