Constable T Bear
Tasmania Police has welcomed a Special Honorary Constable into its ranks.
Constable T Bear is the latest recruit to the Tasmania Police Charity Trust’s efforts to raise funds for programs that benefit our community.
The new Constable comes complete with a Tasmania Police uniform and badge. Proceeds from the sale of Constable T Bear will be donated to Royal Guide Dogs Tasmania to assist with the training of puppies.
“It costs $30,000, plus a lot of time and dedication by volunteers and an instructor to raise and train a guide dog, and there are 10 puppies in training right now,” said the Acting Commissioner of Tasmania Police, Darren Hine.
“When they graduate the Guide Dogs offer safety, confidence and companionship – and they become an invaluable part of everyday life for many blind or vision impaired people,” said Mr Hine.
“We hope that Constable T Bear will become a collectors’ item. The first 20 bears will come with numbered certificates signed by David Boon, Peter Hudson and myself.”
Constable T Bear is available through the Charity Trust, via the Tasmania Police website, at a cost of $55 (plus postage and handling).
