Concern for Welfare – Injured Man – Elizabeth Street Hobart

At 2.22pm this afternoon Police and emergency services were called to the Liverpool Street end of the Elizabeth Mall concerning a young man who had had possession of a knife and had sustained wounds to his neck and legs.

It was quickly established that the wounds were self-inflicted.  The man was treated at the scene by Paramedics and transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital.  His condition was reported to be critical but stable.  Since the incident this has been downgraded to serious but stable.

Police would like to re-assure the community that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.  The man did not threaten any members of the public.
